A rainy day

So today was my last day working at Tusenfryd, possibly ever.. kind of sad somehow. It was a pretty slow day as it was raining more or less all of the time. Everyone was really nice to me, saying goodbye and stuff.. really weird to leave in the middle of the season like this, doesn't feel as if it was my last day at all, hehe. It is now 9 days untill I leave for China - I don't feel ready at all, actually I am kind of scared at the moment :P Everything will work out though, I got people to take the plane with/live with, my visa, my insurance, my student loan etc.. just have to clean out all my stuff of the appartment now and Im all set I guess - Shanghai for the win! :)

Liseberg

Yesterday a bunch of us from work rented a bus and went to our friendship park in Gothenborg - Liseberg. It's always awesome to go there, get in for free and then get a VIP bracelet so I can take all the rides for free, just because I work at Tusenfryd :)
I woke up 5.50 in the morning, realising I had overslept. Had to get ready in 10 minutes and then run to the bus to make it to Tusenfryd on time. It was a 4 hours drive to Gothenborg so we had to get an early start in order to have any time there at all. Liseberg's new ride this season is a freaking tall tower (109 meters or something) - they take you all the way to the top, then drop you for about 90 meters or so, apparently the tallest freefall in all of Europe. When we got to the park we decided to go straight for the tower, Atmosfear, to avoid a long line. The plan worked and we only had to wait for about 10 mins. I really loved Atmosfear, if it had been up to me I would have stayed there all day and taken it over and over again, but we took it twice in a row at least. When they drop you you actually hover in your seat, amazing feeling. The other rides were of course nice as well tho, especially the ghost house. Liseberg has really gone all out with it and there are actors inside scaring you and everything - Im always scared to death of going there, but I always have fun when I do.
On our way home we got delayed pretty bad due to terrible traffic as a result of what looked like a pretty nasty accident. We lost the last bus to Oslo from Tusenfryd, but Leif was nice enough to drive us to Mastemyr so we could catch another bus to Oslo there - so we all got home safely. It was a very long but pretty cool day :)

Back to reality for now

So yeah back in Norway again and back to work for a few weeks before moving. Today after work we had a BBQ party in the pool area, was actually really nice - people went into the pool as well, but I forgot to bring my bikini so I just slacked and ate my food mostly. Crazy people were grilling candy, or well at least I thought they were crazy untill I tried it and it actually tasted real nice :P I thought I would be really sick of Tusenfryd this season to be perfectly honest - but right now Im actually sad that I just have 6 more shifts left.. I will miss everyone else working there and the whole working with people every day thing as well. But hey Im going to China in 20 days, wich is supercool so I shouldnt be sad! :)

More work (department meeting)

thats right its another blog entry about my job - but hey the next one will most likely be about my trip to the Netherlands (I leave in 2 days).
Anyways, today I worked at the pool area and it was a really slow day so it was pretty slack, hehe. After work I had well.. more work :P We had a meeting for all of us working at the rides department. First we took spaceshot (thats the tower ride in the middle of all of the photos) and ate pizza then we discussed numbers, rules, etc. We also had a few awards - employee of the month and winners of the 4 truths, etc. Im pretty surprised, but I actually got an award myself as well. I won the best at interaction (best translation I can find but it means Im easy to work with basicly) - yay :)
Then we had a poolguard meeting and then a sky coaster meeting so yeah long evening for those of us working those places, but those last two didnt really take all that long. Anyways Im just working one more day, then Im off to Holland, not sure if I will be blogging from there or just blog about it when I get home - think it will be a lot of fun, meeting quite a few people I know down there :)

Back to work

Another saturday another day at Tusenfryd. Today I decided to bring my camera - just because I didn't bring it to work yet this season. Worked at sky coaster today and at the beginning of the day we didn't really have that many guests so we tried to fly to attract customers.. first I tested it then both Kirsten and Oda did promo flights, so we got quite a few nice pictures :) Another awesome thing is that we now have a new wireless phone that we can bring up to the actual ride, rahter than the old one we have down by the cash registry area. Eventually all our fake screaming did attract a good wave of customers, and noone got sendt home - happy ending! :)

After my normal shift I had agreed to work at an event (as in someone had rented the park and also some rides we needed to operate), but in the end Intern Service needed help, so I got to work there instead. Cool to try something completely new for a change.

BBQ in the park

After a rather slow day at work (almost no guests at all, and I actually had a poolguard apprentice the first two hours) a few of us went to Frognerparken (the biggest park in Oslo) to BBQ. We were kind of worried about the weather, but it worked out - clouds, but more or less no rain and sun every now and then. We grilled, played various card games and frisbee and relaxed in the sun :) Great evening. Tomorrow Tusenfryd is closed and this time I will use my day off for usefull stuff - like fixing my visa for China and meet friends ^^

Worketi work

Still working more or less all the time - today was a rather long day, almost 11 hours in total. Had my normal shift first and then somebody had rented the park so some of us stayed for a few hours longer. Because I basicly had nothing to do between the two shifts I got to pick trash - A LOT of trash. At least I didnt have to work alone, me and Mariann (from work) actually spendt 2 hours on trash picking :S Seriously why cant people just throw it in one of the hundred trashcans rather than UNDER our rides? Ah well, more cash for me ^^ Oh AND the third day without cola today. Had a bit too much cofee though and we got to take a few rounds in SpinSpider while waiting on the next shift as well, so now I feel pretty bad.. I hope its just all the cofee and not something more =/

A long day at work

Today was one long day at work. OBOS rented the entire park so the opening hours were a lot later than normal, but as I am a poolguard and the pool area opens tomorrow I had to complete my yearly training. The training was directly before my actual shift, so it ended up being a pretty long day at work (from 10.30 to 21.15 ish) with a lot of different things to do. I was going to work at Sky Coaster (like always), but we didn't really need a third person there so I ended up giving people breaks and then preparing the pool area for tomorrow. There was a lot of random changes in what I was supposed to do today, but it wasn't really a big deal for me - apparently this was a good thing though, cause when I got back to the office I got a little dimploma saying I had done really well today, etc.. haha :) Always fun to be appriciated, especially when you don't realise your doing a good job.

Not so quiet anymore :)

Yesterday I was kind of sick of studying on my own in my quiet appartment so I met up with my brother, Ludvig, and we went to my friends Victoria and Chris. We stayed there for ages, just eating pizza, watching TV, playing Risk on their xbox. Me and Ludvig went back to my place arround 3 AM (the last round of Risk took ages) and stayed up talking for some time. In the morning it was back to Tusenfryd. Because Ludvig started earlier and we wanted to take the bus together I voluntered for helping out with building a small stage. Im not really the strongest person in the world, so I was unsure if I was the right person for the job and felt kind of out of place. It was actually quite ok though, pretty easy money. It was still nice when I got to go work at Sky Coaster though and do something I know how to do already rather than ask questions every 3 mins. It wasnt all that crowded in the park in general today, but we actually had quite a few flights. I still think it's the new group discounts that makes people more positive this season :) Now Im supertired and Im kind off considering to just go to sleep right away.. probably a good idea to have some dinner first at least though, hehe.

The weekend

This weekend has been pretty busy for me. Saturday started with a day working at the amusement park. It was quite a few guests at the park, 5 or 6 thousand I think they said, and with the new prices a lot of them wanted to take sky coaster as well. I think it's more fun to work when there's a lot of people at the rides though, time goes by faster :)
After work I went directly to Kajas place as she turned 23 may 1st (she always celebrates the night before). Petter, Jeanette and I got her a photo frame she has wanted to buy for a while now, but her boyfriend Stian hates it so she didn't yet, hehe. Kaja loves us now and we got to make fun of Stian as well so it's all good. The party was pretty cool, nice to meet Kajas other friends (That I now consider my friends as well, but I don't meet without Kaja) again as well. Sunday it was back to work again, a lot less people there, but mum, dad and Ida was 3 of them so that was nice. Ida is the sweetest kid in the world, she had walked up to sky coaster directly after getting in to the park to see if I was there - that ride doesn't open untill a little later though and I didnt really work there that day either, so she didnt find me. Poor little thing, I did meet them later on though, several times :) Today I will have to study.. A LOT, and also fill out my applications for Fudan university with a copy of my passport, a picture of me, etc.. its like they want my whole life story in the application.

Slacking

Today was my first day this season actually working at a ride again at the amusement park. My job was easy enough - sit in a box and watch over one of the rides the new employees have to learn how to run. I had music, cofee, candy and my lunch box so it was pretty ok sitting there doing more or less nothing all day long, hehe :P The most exciting part of my day was the single time an alarm went off and I had to make two of the boats be further apart. (When you sit in the box you can actually control most of the ride, its just easier to let it all be automatic unless something happens) After a whole day of just slacking you should think I now have tons of energy and want to go do something right? Somehow thats not how I feel at all tho - Im actually kind of tired. Guess Im just not used to getting up early in the weekends yet. Now to make some dinner and then I will just watch a movie or something, superslack day - but I have earned it after the last two weeks of stressfull finals.

The start of another season at Tusenfryd

So today it was back to the summerjob, Tusenfryd (biggest amusement park in Norway) for my yearly training. First we talked about uniform rules, company policy etc for an hour or so, then we had lunch and then a walkthrough of all the rides in the park, discussing anything we might be unsure about. We do this every year partly to remember it for ourselves and partly to all agree on what we teach the new employes when the season begins. It was actually real nice to do the walkthrough because today must be the warmest day this year so far :) I will be working tomorrow as well filling a position the new kinds can't really learn yet so they can learn the rest of the ride. Slackest job ever honestly, as I will basicly be sitting in a box listening to music and paying attention to a ride. Apparently I will be cleaning a bit and stuff as well, but I dont mind it's extra cash for the april paycheck :)
Oh and I just have to link another Dollyrots song, love this one as well!(not kidding I finally found the mp3 and added it to my ipod yesterday and Im already at 79 times played)
